Australian consortium to develop topical phage therapy for epidermolysis bullosa wound infections
Adelaide University, AusHealth, EB Partnerships Australia (EBRPA) and the SMART Cooperative Research Centre are developing bacteriophage therapy for chronic wound infections in people with epidermolysis bullosa, in the SMART CRC's first collaboration. The South Australian project, a joint investment of more than $1 million over 2.5 years, is led by Professor Sarah Vreugde at the AusHealth Phage Therapy Centre in Adelaide and will test bacteriophage combinations applied directly to EB wounds as a topical treatment.
