CDC's May 2023 update on the multistate outbreak of extensively drug-resistant VIM-GES-CRPA Pseudomonas aeruginosa associated with artificial tears reports 81 patients in 18 states as of May 15, 2023. It notes that phages with activity against the outbreak strain have been identified at UC San Diego's Center for Innovative Phage Applications and Therapeutics (IPATH) and the Yale Center for Phage Biology and Therapy, and that clinicians interested in phage as a treatment option should contact IPATH or Dr. Jonathan Koff at Yale.
