Cryo-EM structure of the f1 filamentous phage, including its tips

Nature Communications paper using cryo-electron microscopy of short Ff-derived nanorods to determine a structure of a filamentous virus (f1, fd or M13 phages) including the tips. Combined with mutagenesis, it identifies phage domains important for attacking bacteria and releasing progeny and supports new models of the phage lifecycle; Ff phages have a wide range of biotechnology applications.
