Directed evolution of phages in biofilms improves Pseudomonas aeruginosa control through better LPS recognition (Nature Communications)

Biofilm-adapted mutants of Pseudomonas phage PE1, evolved on a cystic fibrosis-derived P. aeruginosa isolate, controlled biofilms better in vitro under conditions mimicking the CF lung. Mutations in tail fiber and baseplate genes improved adsorption and enabled recognition of truncated LPS variants (Meneses et al., Nature Communications).
