Outcomes of 100 consecutive personalized phage therapy cases from a Belgian consortium (Nature Microbiology)

A retrospective observational analysis of the first 100 consecutive cases of personalized phage therapy facilitated by a Belgian consortium in 35 hospitals across 12 countries (2008-2022) reports clinical improvement in 77.2% and eradication of the targeted bacteria in 61.3% of infections. Eradication was 70% less probable without concomitant antibiotics; the authors note the data are uncontrolled and can inform the design of future controlled trials.
