Personalized aerosolized phage treatment of a chronic multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infection
Nature Communications case report of a 41-year-old man with Kartagener syndrome and a life-threatening chronic multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infection who was treated successfully with iterative aerosolized phage treatments directed against his own isolate. Phage titres in sputum indicated phage replication in the patient and all isolates recovered after treatment stayed phage susceptible; clinical improvement was achieved without complete eradication of P. aeruginosa.
