Ryan Cook (Quadram Institute) and colleagues published a paper on benchmarking viromics using Illumina, Nanopore and PacBio. They constructed a mock phage community and used it to compare effectiveness of different sequencing technologies. The overall winning approach was Illumina combined with Nanopore (and if using a single technology: Illumina).
