Universities, public research and government organisations are generally eligible, with country-specific exceptions. Institutions outside Africa cannot receive these funds. SGCI’s collaborative call supported African-led research in health, agriculture, AI and digital technologies, energy and the environment. Consortia needed three to five institutions from different participating countries, with funding and thematic eligibility set by country. Expressions of interest closed on September 25, 2026.
