SNIPR Biome reports positive interim Phase 1 results for CRISPR-armed phage SNIPR001
SNIPR Biome announced positive interim results from its Phase 1 trial of SNIPR001, a cocktail of four CRISPR-armed phages that targets E. coli, including antibiotic-resistant strains, in the gut. In 36 healthy volunteers (24 on three dose levels, 12 on placebo), seven days of oral dosing was well tolerated with only mild to moderate side effects; SNIPR001 was recovered in feces in a dose-dependent manner and numerically lowered gut E. coli levels. Future studies are planned in cancer patients at high risk of E. coli bloodstream infection.
