UC San Diego has detailed the journey to recovery of another patient who has benefitted from the use of phage therapy. The case involved Maria Madrigal, a polycystic kidney disease (and kidney transplant) patient who suffered from recurrent multidrug resistant Escherichia coli infections, who was treated at UCSD's IPATH, again suggesting the promise of phage therapy after conventional antibiotic treatment proves inadequate.
