Aurélie Fluckiger (Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus, France) and colleagues published a new paper in Science showing cross-reactivity between tumor antigens and the tape measure protein encoded by an Enterococcus hirae prophage. Administering enterococci expressing the phage gene improved anti-tumor immunotherapy in mice, and in human cancer patients, phage presence was associated with improved survival after immunotherapy.
