Giuseppina Mariano, Justin Deme (University of Glasgow & National Cancer Institute) and colleagues published a new paper on structural and mechanistic insights into Zorya phage defense systems, showing ZorAB forms an ion-driven motor complex that recruits nuclease effectors to damage host DNA and provide population-wide immunity against phages.
