Could phage therapy target bacterial meningitis? Christian Møller-Olsen (University of Warwick, UK) and colleagues have shown that phage K1F can infect E. coli within cerebral endothelial cells without eliciting an inflammatory response. The phage also temporarily decreased endothelial barrier resistance, which could help immune cells cross the barrier in vivo.
