In a new paper in eLife, Amelia McKitterick (Harvard University) and colleagues used bacteriophages Cog and CL31 to discover host factors important for phage infection of Corynebacterium glutamicum. They identified an important role for mycomembrane proteins in phage infection as well as components of the arabinogalactan and mycolic acid synthesis pathways.
