Bryan Lenneman (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and colleagues published a review on phage engineering approaches to redirect specificity and reduce resistance development. They also describe the application of designer phages as gene therapy vectors, for example to deliver nucleases to reprogram target cells in a multifaceted microbiome.
