Jose L Figueroa (North Carolina Research Center) and colleagues published a new tool, MetaCerberus, a massively parallel, fast, low memory, scalable annotation tool for gene function inference across the tree of life (including phages!). The tool integrates multiple databases such as KEGG/KO, PHROGs, and CAZy, with plans to include more in future updates.
