WHO/Europe fact sheet explaining that therapeutic phages are lytic and highly specific to their bacterial hosts and can be used alone or alongside antibiotics, but are not approved medicines in most countries and are mainly used on compassionate grounds. It covers uses in humans, animals, agriculture, aquaculture and the environment, and says further clinical evidence is needed before phages can be widely available for therapeutic use in humans.
